Alma 17-22—Classic stories of the sons of Mosiah’s missionary efforts among the Lamanites, including Ammon and Lamoni, Aaron and Lamoni’s dad, and other stuff. But how did they go about this work? With a rubric? With a checklist? No. They did it through service and love. There are powerful lessons to take home from this discussion if we get past surface-level stuff. Cameron Poulter is with us.
Mosiah 25-28 – Loren Thomas joins us to talk primarily about Alma the Younger’s wickedness and subsequent conversion. How can people be led into sin by unbelievers? What caused Alma to change? Can we expect the same in our own lives? How does the Lord send help in response to the prayers of the righteous?
Alma 23-29 – Thousands of those converted through the Sons of Mosiah change their name to the Anti-Nephi-Lehies, bury their weapons of war, and seek shelter and inclusion with the Nephite people. How can we bury our “weapons of war”? Why is it so important to be converted through Christ and not other means? How do we continually give thanks to God?
Alma 17-22 – The sons of Mosiah preach the gospel to the Lamanites. Ammon teaches Lamoni, who is converted along with his people. Aaron is brought out of prison and teaches Lamoni’s father. How can we be more effective missionaries? Can we forsake all sin to know God? Where do we find the strength to be obedient?
Mosiah 25-28; Alma 36 – Alma and Limhi unify with the Nephites; Alma organizes the Church; Alma the Younger and the Sons of Mosiah lead away many before being struck dumb and repenting. How can we be truly converted to the Gospel? What does it mean to fully repent?
