3 Nephi 16-21—This lesson deals entirely with the gathering of Israel. Why did the Savior spend time explaining this to the people? Why does the gathering of Israel matter to us today? What role do Gentiles play in the scattering and gathering of Israel. Brad Lammi is back in the saddle with us.
Mosiah 25-28 – Loren Thomas joins us to talk primarily about Alma the Younger’s wickedness and subsequent conversion. How can people be led into sin by unbelievers? What caused Alma to change? Can we expect the same in our own lives? How does the Lord send help in response to the prayers of the righteous?
2 Nephi 26-30 – Jeff King returns to the studio to talk about Nephi’s final exhortations to his people. He teaches about the restoration, the coming forth of the Book of Mormon, and good triumphing over evil. Let’s dance!
Helaman 13-16 – Samuel the Lamanite preaches atop the walls of Zarahemla. He prophesies of the signs of Christ’s birth and death and chastises the Nephites for their iniquity. How importance is repentance to us? How do we develop a stronger understanding and testimony of repentance?
Helaman 6-12 – The pride cycle is given a full lesson. The Nephites become so wicked that the Lamanites exceed them in righteousness. How can we avoid pride in our material wealth? How can we avoid pride in our testimonies? How do we get out of a cycle of pride and firmly turn ourselves to God?
Alma 43-52 – War. Why did Mormon include so much about war in the latter chapters of Alma? What do we stand to learn from it? Captain Moroni raises the Title of Liberty in the face of attrition and a lack of hope. Amalickiah conspires to become king of the Lamanites. The righteous Nephites protect themselves from the Lamanites. How can we protect ourselves from the evils of the world?
Alma 23-29 – Thousands of those converted through the Sons of Mosiah change their name to the Anti-Nephi-Lehies, bury their weapons of war, and seek shelter and inclusion with the Nephite people. How can we bury our “weapons of war”? Why is it so important to be converted through Christ and not other means? How do we continually give thanks to God?
