After two years of famine, Elijah asks the widow of Zarephath to prepare food and water for him. He challenges the priests of Baal and Jezebel to call down fire from heaven. 1 Kings 12-14; Chronicles 17 – Rehoboam succeeds his father, Solomon, but squanders the chance to rule in righteousness. Eventually, Jeroboam of the northern tribes leads a rebellion and Israel is split in two. What do we learn from the failings of these two leaders? How can we improve as leaders?
