Ether 1-6 – The Lord leads the brother of Jared away from the Tower of Babel. The brother of Jared has great faith, builds ships, and sees Jesus Christ. The Lord praises the faith of the brother of Jared. The Jaredites travel to and arrive in the promised land.
Mormon 7-9 – Mormon counsels those in our day to believe in Christ and be baptized. The Book of Mormon will come forth in a great day of wickedness. God is a God of miracles. Believe in him. How can we apply scriptural counsel into our modern lives?
Mormon 1-6 – Mormon is given charge of the sacred records. Wickedness prevails throughout the land. Mormon becomes the leader of the Nephite armies and the Nephites suffer because of their wickedness. Mormon speaks to the people in the latter days, urging them to not fall as the Nephites fall, and the Nephites are eventually destroyed.
3 Nephi 27-28; 4 Nephi – What manner of men ought we to be? Even as Christ. The Lord instructs the Nephites what to name His church. The Savior grants His twelve disciples the desires of their hearts. Three of them are given power to remain on earth until the Second Coming. The Nephites eventually descend into wickedness, pride, and class divisions.
3 Nephi 22-26 – The Savior quotes Isaiah’s prophecies concerning the last day. He commands the people to add to their records the words of Samuel the Lamanite and Malachi. What are stakes? Why do we use the symbolism of a tent and stakes? What teachings of Malachi are especially important? Additional reading: Isaiah 54; Malachi 3-4
